Nature as Sound Healer: Equine Sound Bath

Ahhh, March. Spring is on the way for those of us in Ohio (I promise!). Although this winter has felt exceptionally long for many reasons, during my walk this morning, I spotted wildflowers and snowdrops beginning to emerge from their winter slumber. Signs of life!

Here’s a photo of the hummingbird I desperately tried to capture in Tucson last month—the epitome of warm feelings. Have you ever listened to the sounds of a hummingbird? Their little chirps and wing flutters bring up a feeling in me, something primal, reminding me of the inherent healing quality of sound. Give this a listen and see how you feel.

Our nervous systems respond to sound. Certain frequencies and vibrations can activate our parasympathetic nervous systems, the parts of us that know how to feel at ease. Sound healing through nature connection, sound baths, music, or meditation, can help us synchronize brainwave activity, deepen mindfulness, and foster emotional release. What sounds help you come back to your body? What animal noises feel pleasing to you?

Join me in April and beyond for Equine Resonance, a monthly sound bath and horse herd meditation in partnership with PBJ Connections. We’ll spend time in meditation with horses, and then participate in a sound bath session with them. Horses have highly sensitive nervous systems and emotional lives. They ooze authenticity and their whinnies can give us clues about where we might be incongruent. I’m beyond excited to be in space with you and them!

Our first sound bath experience happens on Saturday, April 19th from 10 am-11:30 am. Feel free to put this on your monthly calendar and purchase tickets in advance, as space is limited. Find tickets below.
